For some time TATOC has been keen to give full recognition to resorts that are truly customer-driven in their approach to timeshare ownership and are willing to commit to all requirements of the Association’s code of ethics.

After months of planning and discussion with industry experts, the TATOC board announced last year its new Resort Accreditation Programme (RAP). The plan: to award accreditation status to resorts which meet thorough and detailed operating requirements.

Resorts who apply for Accreditation undergo an inclusive on-site inspection and audit. If successful, they can use the TATOC Accredited Resort logo at their resort and in all company advertising, publications and websites. A modest fee is charged for the inspection.

The Accreditation process is rigorous, robust and comprehensive. The association believes it is essential that the award is seen as hard-earned and meaningful.

In 2009, the following resorts were the first awarded Accreditation status:

Club Las Calas, Lanzarote

Villacana Club, Malaga

Sunset Bay Club, Tenerife

Fairways Club, Tenerife

Royal Sunset Beach Club, Tenerife

Pine Lake, Northern England

Hollywood Mirage, Tenerife

Beverly Hills Club, Tenerife

Beverly Hills Heights, Tenerife

Palm Beach Club, Tenerife

In 2010, resorts that have been accredited include:

Crown Resorts at Club Calahonda

Crown Resorts at Club Marbella/Regency Palms

Crown Resorts at Club Caronte

Crown Resorts at Club Delta Mar

Crown Resorts at Club La Riviera

The process considers all aspects of resort activities including:

• The standards of accommodation and leisure facilities
• The marketing that brought a guest to the resort;
• The health, fire and safety standards at the resort;
• The sales practices at the resort; and
• The customer service levels provided
